Pathology: dedifferentiated chordoma

Dedifferentiated chordoma

  • Spindle-epithelioid cells with storiform-fascicular pattern

  • Eosinophilic cytoplasm with rare vacuoles

  • Round-ovoid nuclei with moderate pleomorphism; conspicuous mitotic activity

Local recurrence ~10 years after resection of chordoma (patient received neoadjuvant radiotherapy, so the possibility of a radiation-associated sarcoma cannot be entirely excluded)
