Pathology: hibernoma

Hibernoma, classic

  • Sheets of polygonal cells

  • Abundant cytoplasm that is variably granular and eosinophilic, multivacuolated, or univacuolated

  • Small, frequently central, nuclei that lack significant atypia

  • Prominent vasculature

Hibernoma, lipoma-like

  • Sheets of polygonal cells

  • Abundant clear cytoplasm and minimal variability in size and shape

  • Interspersed cells with eosinophilic and multivacuolated cytoplasm

  • Monomorphic small central nuclei with prominent nucleoli
